    Hello, forum. I have a total mess with internal linking.
    Sett up: wp job manager + Yoast plugin + workscout theme
    For categories, I’m using taxonomy pages.

    What I meant by mess:
    1. all posted jobs links to each existing category
    Example:

    I have a page: https://gamingjobs.in/job-category/game-design-jobs/, there is only four jobs link uploaded to this category right now (you can see it on the page). But google console shows 1032 internal links. Like:
    https://gamingjobs.in/job/ai-gameplay-tools-programmer/ - job uploaded to another category;
    https://gamingjobs.in/?post_type=job_listing&p=956 - 404
    etc

    2. all posted jobs linked to the home page
    3. expired and even moved to trash jobs still links to categories
    Even after the home page and categories pages were re-indexed.

    Do know what could be the root cause what is the way to solve it?

    @yehorrr We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

    To resolve this, can you please try the following?:

      1. Install & activate the?Yoast Test Helper plugin
      2. Go to Tools -> Yoast Test
      3. Hit the “Reset Internal Link counter” button
      4. Under SEO → Tools, click the “Start SEO Data Optimization” button.

    Regarding your issue, can you please provide us with a screenshot what you are seeing in Google Search Console in relation to the internal links?

    Also, you said that “2. all posted jobs linked to the home page.” We reviewed the example page here and do see a link on the page located under the ‘Rockstar Games India’ that links to the homepage (see image here). Is this the expected behavior or are you trying to remove this link?

    In regards to “3. expired and even moved to trash jobs still links to categories”, can you please elaborate on the behavior you are seeing here?a

    @devnihil hello.

    yes sure, screenshot what I’m seeing in Google Search Console in relation to the internal links see here.

    -> yes, this is expected behaviour
    in the #2 I meant the following: When open https://gamingjobs.in/ in “Top linked pages – internally” report in Google console I see all jobs posted on my website linked to the home page

    In regards to “3. expired and even moved to trash jobs still links to categories”, can you please elaborate on the behavior you are seeing here?a

    -> yes, sure
    example with expired job: See here what I see in Internal links report for ths category https://gamingjobs.in/job-category/game-design-jobs/. On the screen you may see this link https://gamingjobs.in/?post_type=job_listing&p=1223, but in fact this job is expired.

    example with deleted job:the same category and the same screen as in the example above. Within linked pages you may see the following https://gamingjobs.in/?post_type=job_listing&p=1008, by the fact it leads to 404 page this is deleted job.

    Hi,

    Just so we’re understanding this issue correctly, your concern is the discrepancy in the ‘top linked pages – internally’ report in Google Search Console, correct?

    If so, and it isn’t related to the Yoast SEO plugin specifically, then you may have to reach out to the Google Search Central Help Community for further assistance. You can also check out this article for more information – https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9049606
