Internal Linking Count

    Hi Yoast Team,

    i have a problem to understand which links the internal linking counts.
    Does he only counts links in the editor? Or does he also counts links in the main menu?
    Does he counts links inside shortcodes? For example if i have a shortcode which renders a sidebar menu does he also counts those links?

    I have a very high counter for internal links in my post and i did not find any posts in your knowlegde base.

    The internal linking feature in Yoast SEO only counts the link that appears in the content editor. Yoast SEO won’t count any links that you’d add to your sidebar using shortcodes.

    So shortcodes which renders hyperlinks won’t be count?

    If you’re adding the links using the shortcode on a sidebar, it won’t count by Yoast SEO plugin.

    I’m sorry but i have to ask again. I’m using a shortcode in the content editor NOT in a sidebar. These shortcode renders hyperlinks. So on the frontend I see links. In the content editor I see only a shortcode. Will the plugin count the links in the frontend?

    There is no easy answer as this all depends on the shortcode and what we can see from the shortcode. If we can parse the shortcode and see the link, it will be counted. Does removing the shortcode and updating the post/page change the link count?
