Internal Link Editing

Hi Peoples,
I’m looking at a way to edit the Internal Link Form Field to have the data output as a dropdown rather than checkboxes (and have it work as it’s own form field, not replace the existing one).
Does anyone know a way to do this? or failing that, where the code is that manages the Internal Link form Field, as I cannot find it :/
