After upgrading to last version (1.2.2), I get a Serveur internal error 500.
I must delete the plugin folder to get back my site.
    Back to 1.2.0 : error 500.
    Back to… 0.11.2 : alright !

    SMTP Host : localhost
    SMTP port : 25
    Encryption : No
Authentication : Yes: Use SMTP authentication.

Could you please provide error logs that were generated when you updated to 1.2.2?

I really need that information to understand the issue. You can get it from your hosting control panel or ask hosting support to provide one.

I need those records in error_log, that appeared there right after you upgraded the plugin.

    1. Plugin folder 0.11.2 deleted
    2. Plugin 1.2.1 copied
    3. Plugin 1.2.1 upgraded to 1.2.2 with the WordPress admin
    4. Plugin 1.2.2 activated… All in order but…

… my SMTP parameters were gone. I suspected that, the first time I fire the update, my plugin was very old (maybe older than 0.11.2).

Thus, all is ok, issue solved.
