• Since Tuesday this week I am experiencing a lot of trouble logging in to the dashboard and after finally getting in and trying to post I have trouble adding media (get a blank window instead of all my media thumbnails). If I try to upload a new file it does not show up as a new image for me to insert but is added to the media library in multiples of 9 when I look in the media library. The message I get when trying to login or save my post is: …”can’t open the page because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection…”

These problems have been intermittent and originally I thought it had to do with updating to WP 3.5.2, but another site I manage has the same sort of trouble logging in. These sites have been up and running fine for a few months now. They are both hosted on GoDaddy. When I contacted GoDaddy tech support they said it has to do with WordPress and not the server, but I am not convinced.

Also I have tested all my plugins on my localhost server and I don’t think it is an issue with plugins since I don’t have the same trouble locally.

If this is a server issue, can you advise what steps can I take to fix?

  • Keep after them and ask to escalate the issue, and it will take time, if they can make the server you’re on reliable.

Sorry for the late reply on this thread. This may be related to an issue on some of our mod_sec functionalities we have in place to help against malicious uploads and other items. Is the issue still occurring? Also did you log a support ticket? If so I’d be happy to review it for you. ^Colby GoDaddy Social Media Team

Thanks Go Daddy Support for your interest. Yes I have a support ticket (19795800) and have had some back and forth with your support via email. I would be happy for you to review the discussion and let me know if you have anything to add.

Unfortunately my problem persists, on an intermittent basis. Some days I can log in and post content to my site, and other days like today I have been unable to log in all day. I have gone through all of the suggestions your team has so far suggested and I still haven’t found a resolution. I confess I am considering switching hosts as has been recommended by others on this thread.

I appreciate your help with this since I have paid my money in good faith (2 years in advance) and feel like I am not getting the service I deserve in exchange. I would like to avoid the bother of switching hosts if possible, but can’t go on working like this much longer.

    Anita,

The ticket shows that some suggestions were made to optimize the site. I don’t show any additional issues have been reported on that ticket. I’d like to research this a little further if you’ve already gone through those optimization suggestions are are still running into issues. If you are, please reply to the last email stating what you’re currently seeing. This will re-open the ticket and I will have it reviewed by our advanced team. I’ll keep an eye out for your response here to help prevent further delays with responses here. We’ve already apologized for the delay previously and it appears to have happened again. I will check here to be sure I know as soon as you reply.
