    Hi,

    I’m seeking help for an issue that only just started and I don’t know why it started in the first place. The last major change that took place on the website is the developers logging in to resolve something, and in doing so, I believe they created a child theme.

    Now, there is an intermittent issue where sometimes form submissions don’t complete, with an error that goes on to say “contact the administrator.” In addition, email notifications are not working when forms do go through.

    I tried to find a solution under, but when it came to Cache topics, I couldn’t find anything particularly for the Sucuri Plugin, which is the only security plugin installed with a cache feature. Otherwise, I’ve been flushing the Cache on the WordPress dashboard to no avail.

    Any insight into what’s going on and how to fix it?

    About the issue with form submission, please know that this issue often result from a conflict between the cached site and the anti-spam protection feature in WPForms. To prevent this issue, you could follow our guide to troubleshooting cache settings.

    About the issue with email notifications, you can troubleshoot the issue by checking that your form notification settings are configured correctly by following our tutorial.

    If your notification settings are correct, the issue is likely because the emails sent from WordPress are not authenticated (unlike emails sent directly from dedicated email service providers). As a result, they are likely to be filtered by the receiving mail server.

    To resolve email delivery issues like this, you can configure an SMTP plugin on your site so that emails are sent as authenticated. We have an article with a list of recommended SMTP options and links to their setup tutorials.

    Update: I was able to get SMTP up and running using Google/Gmail, and the test feature worked! I also tested the contact form twice at the URL provided above and it went through — though it sent duplicate emails both times. Not sure how to fix this.

    I will add the Contact Form to the homepage now. After testing about 6 times, I haven’t received a submission error. Waiting to see if issue arises again. Is it possible that adding SMTP has resolved the problem?

    Please know that I was able to submit the form on https://jazzysoftplay.com/contact-us/, and for your reference I created this screencast.

    Problems with form submission often result from a conflict between the cached site and the anti-spam protection feature in WPForms. In case it helps, you can take a look at our guide about troubleshooting cache settings. To prevent the issue, you can change the cache lifetime of the WPForms form token, or just disable the anti-spam protection feature.

    Possibly, the issue stopped because the site may have cleaned the cache after you installed the SMTP plugin. In case the issue returns, please follow the recommendations above.

    About the issue receiving notifications twice, you can troubleshoot it by checking that your form notification settings are correct using our tutorial. If your notification settings are correct, the issue is likely because there is a setting sending a copy of the notification. Please verify if you don’t have a filter configured to send a copy of certain email messages.

    In case the issue persists, please share some screenshots of the notifications in order for us to try to identify what might cause it.

    Hi Ralden,

    This is all so great! Thank you very much, especially for testing the form out on your end. We will keep this information on hand for the event that the error occurs again. In addition, we discovered why duplicate emails were sending. It was simply because we listed {admin_email} and the actual admin email after placing a comma in the WPForms notification settings. After removing the email fully typed out, one notification is all that arrives.
