Intermittent Calendar Display

    I have been using the ICS Calendar plugin for over a year now. I’ve tried everything short of purchasing the pro version and hoping that fixes it. To be honest, I’m almost ready to give up on it. No matter what settings I try it constantly drops off, at least a couple of time a day for long periods of time. I can make it come back on after several server reboots. And “sometimes” but not always, saving a setting or a page can bring it back. My WordPress is installed on my Virtualmin server. Using cron, I pull the calendar from my Nextcloud server. The calendar.ics file is then stored and accessed on the Virtualmin server locally. The calendar data is definitely being stored there. I’ve tried with and without the Ajax settings. I’ve tried disabling the opcache in Virtualmin. I’ve also installed the WordPress W3 Total Cache and tinkered with setting there. I have tried multiple variations of the “ajax and reload” shortcodes below. I’ve had absolutely no luck making this Stabe. Any help would greatly appreciated.

    Hi, I’m sorry to hear you are having trouble with the plugin. It sounds to me like this may be an out-of-memory issue, which can sometimes happen with feeds that contain a large number of events, especially if they include a lot of recurring events.

    In order to assist you further I’ll need to know your actual feed URL so I can do some testing on my end. Please use the Pro Support Request Form (it’s fine if you’re not a licensed Pro user) and be sure to include your exact shortcode including the real feed URL, along with the System Report from the ICS Calendar admin page.     If this is a memory issue, I’ve been working today on an option that lets you increase the memory limit just for calendar rendering (rather than site-wide), and does not require modifying your wp-config.php file or server PHP settings. This is available in the latest beta which you can download here:

    To adjust the memory limit, go to ICS Calendar > Settings and adjust the number in the Increase memory limit when rendering calendars dropdown. I recommend at least 512 MB.

    (Note: The beta does not have updated translation files yet, so the updated settings will appear in English regardless of your site’s configured language.)

    Thanks so much Room34. I have submitted a Pro Support Request. I look forward to further responses.
    English is fine, so I can try the Beta release if needed. In the meantime, I’ll increase my php memory limit and see if that helps.
