Interference between Formidable and PDF Embedder Secure

  • In a Formidable form, I have an HTML field that displays a PDF using a shortcode provided by the PDF Embedder Secure plugin. The idea is that a the PDF includes writing prompts which the user can respond to with arbitrarily long writing, which the user can save as a draft and come back later to edit or add more.

    The PDF Embedder displays a PDF with a top control bar that lets you zoom in/out and flip between pages of the PDF.

    Trouble is, clicking the page-flip or zoom controls for the PDF causes the form to be submitted. So these two plugins – PDF Embedder Secure and Formidable – do not play well together and I’m not sure where the fault lies or how to address it.

    Any ideas or advice? I am asking the developer of PDF Embedder Secure the same question.

    Another detail I should have mentioned: When I put a simple hand-coded HTML form on the page with PDF Embedder, there is no interference. That is, clicking the PDF Embedder’s page flip buttons does not cause a form submission in this case. So it is definitely an interaction with Formidable, not an issue with forms in general.

    This is a very bare-bones setup of WordPress 4.5.3. The only active plugins are Formidable, PDF Embedder Premium Secure, and Weaver Xtreme Theme Support.

    Also, it makes no difference whether the “submit form with Ajax” option is enabled or not; the problem occurs either way.
