My website is Treklist.net . My intention for it is to be a website where people could take a “virtual tours” of various spots around the world, with pages of information and videos for each point of interest. Right now, I’m using the WP Google Maps plugin for most of the maps on the site, which is fairly easy to use, but also quite inhibiting.

What I wish I could to is have one interactive map for the entire website that I could use for all the landmarks around the world, where for each landmark’s page, I could have the map centered on that one specific landmark, but the user could still zoom out and see all the landmarks that I’ve written about. I can’t do this with WP Google Maps, because each map can only be centered at one position and at one level of zoom. The only thing I can do is create duplicate maps for all the landmarks and then re-centering each one for it’s own page. Then anytime I add a new landmark to the world map, I would need to go through the process of duplicating and re-centering it for all the different landmarks. Which is a long and tedious process and frankly not worth the effort.

My only other option (using WP Google Maps) is to have only the world map and individual city maps. But this makes navigation around the website/globe a chore for the user.

Does anyone know of I way I could create one interactive map that could be centered at different spots on different pages of my website, that would allow me to add a new landmark and automatically show that new landmark on all the pages of my website?

I hope I explained my objective well. If you take a look at my website, Treklist.net, I think you’ll be able to understand what I’m trying to accomplish, here. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I decided I’m going to keep using WP Google Maps and add additional “zoomed in” or “zoomed out maps as needed.
