When Intelligent Character Replacement is on, even when “Transform straight quotes” is _off_, wp-typography removes the texturization from the <title> tag; post tiles with quotes don’t get “smart quotes” in the <title> tag when this is on.

Yes, since wptexturize does other things as well, it is disabled when Intelligent Character Replacement is enabled. Why not just enable quote replacement?

Sorry, quote replacement doesn’t work in wp_title when it’s on, either

It should. I’ll look into it. What WordPress version and which theme are you using?

WordPress 5.5.1 with a custom theme that doesn’t do anything to wp_title, just does add_support('title-tag') and wp_head

Hi @topdownjimmy! I’ve looked into this and there were some issues with the old title handling. For that reason, the code was removed in 5.6.0. Unfortunately that currently means that the title itself is not filtered by wp-Typography at all at the moment.

@topdownjimmy Is that a feature you’d like to see again? You are the first person to ask about titles since the changed referenced above.
