Integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM

If you mean form integration, that is exactly what I want also. I have been bugging Gravity Forms forever to integrate, I think if there was more requests for this, they would do it sooner. They have indicated it is something they may do eventually.

I am going to go ahead and implement the form creator within CRM and place the HTML into my WordPress site, best I can do for now.

As a former Microsoft CRM implementer, I believe you should not be integrating CRM with WP. They are very different tools.

Microsoft CRM is an enterprise tool that requires a somewhat complex install. Additionally, it must be configured properly for it to be successful, including the potential customizations of interfaces, users, and reports.

What would be the purpose of integrating it with WP? Other than providing a link to the CRM landing page from a WP site, I can’t imagine that anyone would want to see these two different species work together in any form.

Gabe, I simply want to integrate at the form, ie. lead generation level, I like the operation of Gravity Forms in WordPress, using the CRM API, form entries can go right into CRM, without additional hand entries.

I use both CRM and WordPress very successfully, and separately, and don’t intend to truly integrate, that was why I asked at what level the OP intended. Full integration, like you I can’t see how or why, at all, but to have form entries go right in to CRM, that is a very good use case, which is what I desire.

If can’t get what I want, I will have to use HTML generated at CRM in my WordPress site, not very elegant.

Hi, I’ve had a similar request from a client. I don’t he think he understands ‘open source’. I can’t understand why he wants to use the CRM for a very small charity site either. But he’s requesting it anyway.

I disagree with Gabe Young though, the client just want to capture user data entered into forms and use this information for his own nefarious purposes.

Sminc, did you manage to embed the MS CRM form code directly into your WP site? And after the form was submitted is it easy to redirect the user to a WP-based ‘Thanks for your input’ page? I’d love to hear how it panned out.

If the requirement is to simply capture data from forms and manipulate the data, Microsoft CRM is overkill. It will cost way too much and take way too much time.

I’ve offered him a ton of open source solutions for this simple task. Unfortunately he’s putting his foot down.

Gabe, its not so simple to lump everyone in to a rigidly defined use case. For me, it would work well, WordPress and MSCRM integration, but I do more than capturing leads.

I have not integrated CRM HTML into the site yet, I will be soon, and will report back.

Still want a WordPress-MSCRM integration, seems like a no-brainer to me.

It’s not a matter of whether or not CRM would work well, the question is whether or not it would be like using a sledgehammer to squash an ant.

Based on the aforementioned requirements, seems like a lot of work to deploy and support it for just capturing data for a charity site when there are much simpler tools that can accomplish the same thing.

Anyway, obviously anything can be done. IMO, it is rare that the best solution and highest value proposition is integrating an enterprise CRM with WP.

Gabe, i’m with sminc on this one. We use CRM extensively for a lot of its function – it’s certainly not overkill. We have word press website front ends that basically act as sales sites to generate leads. Enquires come from the WP sites and these leads need to get captured into dynamics. MS own both products now right? Why is there no easy integration. Seems a no-brainer.
