• Hi there, I am currently hosting my own www.remarpro.com 3.6.1 on my private host. I also have a wordpress.com blog and user account. I have successfully integrated the two using jetpack.

However, I would like to allow users to log in and post comments on my www.remarpro.com deployment blog with their wordpress.com password.

My wordpress.com 2011 theme has a section in the comments which allows users to log in via WP, twitter, etc. When I downloaded the 2011 theme, this doesn’t seem to be in the source code.

How do I allow users to log in and comment using their wordpress.com account? What code do I need to write? Is there a downloadable theme that shows this? It seems like the downloadable 2011 theme is not the same as the one deployed on wordpress.com.

    Thanks!

  • The default themes provided by WordPress.COM and www.remarpro.com are different. In order to make your ORG site work properly download and use the ORG version of the theme.

I don’t think you understood what I was asking. I get that the themes are different. I’m asking if there is some sample code that shows me how to, in my .ORG theme, allow users to login to their .COM account (via a pop up or something) to comment.

If the user is already logged into their .COM account, things are gravy because jetpack works. But if they are not, how do I get them to log in, short of redirecting to wordpress.com and hoping they come back?

What I was saying was that the themes in .COM allow you to do this. Is there sample code anywhere, since that code isn’t in the open sourced .ORG themes?

I don’t think that’s possible at all. WordPress.COM is a network of sites – self-hosted sites are not part of that network.

Perhaps you may like to connect using JetPack.

Krishna – I already have jetpack working. If a user is already logged into wordpress.com, everything works. What I am trying to do is if a user is not logged into wordpress.com, then how do I allow him to log in? Short of redirecting to wordpress.com itself. The wordpress.com 2011 theme has some nifty JS to do this; I was wondering if this is public sourced anywhere.

WPyogi – of course it’s possible. That’s what jetpack is for.

    Jetpack Comments
Jetpack Comments enables your visitors to use their WordPress.com, Twitter, or Facebook accounts when commenting on your site.

Jetpack tries to match your site’s color scheme automatically, but you can make manual adjustments at the bottom of the Discussion Settings page.

For help with JetPack, you need to post on their forum:

For questions about WordPress.COM versions of themes, you need to ask on their forums – we don’t have any info about those.

Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible
