Integrating Porfolio Site with Blog

I’m confused about how to link different pages together. I’ve want to provide links to other pages such as About and Work. But I want these pages to have their own sidebars (showing recent posts from the blog). Can someone please explain how to create these individual Work and About pages and tell me how to link them together? Thanks.
