integrate users from another software

  • I have Joomla and Gallery2 running, with many users.
    Is there a way to import their user names and passwords?
    I’m thinking it could be done in the Cpanel PHP or SQL controls.
    Has anyone done this? I have searched and searched and I can’t find any posts about this.
