    Hi –

I’m trying to install the latest and greatest…I thought I followed the directions faithfully, but I got this message when I tried to run install.php:

Warning: main(ABSPATHwp-admin/includes/admin.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/scopedin/public_html/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php on line 5

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘ABSPATHwp-admin/includes/admin.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/scopedin/public_html/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php on line 5

    Any ideas? Thanks.

  • That refers to incompletely uploaded (or corrupted) file(s).

OK…I just downloaded a fresh copy of wordpress, made the change to wp-config.php, and uploaded it via filezilla (which indicated the transfer was successful). I got the same error message. It seems unlikely that it was a file transfer issue. What else might I be overlooking?

    Any other ideas? Anyone?

OK…I’ve double and triple-checked the files identified in the error message…they’re all there and seem to be OK.

The first time I did this (with v2.3) I believe that I had to manually make some permission changes to certain files and/or directories. This time around, the directions didn’t mention that…is there something I need to do with permissions?

Well, I’m not sure exactly what I did, but I re-edited the config file locally, uploaded it and now things are OK. It appears that one must be a bit careful what app he uses to edit the php files; when I did this the first time around, I used Word (since I lost my HTML editor last night in my OS upgrade). This afternoon, I got a copy of Dreamweaver and used it to edit the file. Perhaps Word allowed some evil white space to sneak in there.

    Anyway…color this one resolved.
