Instantaneous Posting?

One of the most important things I require for my blog is instantaneous posting of the entries I do (3 or 4 per day). If I switch to using the wordpress software with host and my own domain, will I need to FTP the selected files to my host each time I do a new entry???

In an old site I used to do, the process of saving the files and FTPing them was tedious and time consuming; the one click publish that wordpress.com uses is heaven.
