• When you take steps to trick folks into opening a door so that you can install a nagware plugin without their knowledge or permission I tend to call that malware. Shame on you!

    Hello @gpowerhost,

I’m sorry that you feel that you were tricked – that is certainly not our intention.

Did you use the WooCommerce setup wizard to configure your store? If so, did you have WooCommerce Shipping (with live rates and label printing) enabled?

The live rates and label printing described in the wizard is powered by WooCommerce Services. The “powered by” message is present in the wizard copy, but I can appreciate that may not convey that a plugin will be installed.

We’re looking at ways that the opt-in for WooCommerce Services can be made more clear.

If WooCommerce Services suits your needs (live shipping rates, postage/label printing, automated taxes), I hope you give it a try. Our aim is to build a compelling feature-rich product, not to mislead people.

We appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
