• I’ve edited my config file and uploaded all files to my web server. I am now trying to go to myurl.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php

And… instead of installing I get the following:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’ in /……../wp-admin/includes/template.php on line 934

I read on posts to reinstall wordpress, so i did.

Funny thing is that BEFORE I reinstalled, I got an error message just like this (with an unexpected ‘.’) but it was in a different file…. includes/user.php on line 588

So, this makes no sense. HELP!

  • Try re-installing using a fresh download of WordPress.

That’s what I did. Got a fresh one, and the second time it no longer said the problem was with “user.php” instead it had a new one… “template.php”

I guess I can try it again.

If the error is changing each time, your server or computer may have an unstable connection causing file corruption during the upload.

have you checked if your host has a way extract zip file that you download as most cpanel host do have that.
