• So I followed the specific directions provided by WP on installing WP in the sub-directory of my root folder.

It worked fine. Index PHP page was seen

However, that is not what I want. I need E.G… blog.mydomain.com

I am using Plesk 8.6. I have done the following: Setup MYSql database, assigned the database name and password. Setup subdomain. Edited wp-config-sample.php just as the directions specified by plugging in database info, saved file as wp-config.php. FTP’ed files into subdomain httpdocs directory.

    Result: Sorry Page not found.

FYI: I assigned my blog a c-name record in the DNS.

I am so frustrated, losing my mind!!! Any help would be appreciated.

  • When you create a subdomain in Plesk a DNS record will be added to the domain’s DNS zone. Therefore any additional CNAME record for the subdomain shouldn’t be added manually.

After the creation of the subdomain in httpdocs, the directory of this subdomain default index.html file should be placed. If the subdomain was created with this default method, you should be able open it at the address https://blog.domain.com and see the default index.html content there. If it works fine, all content from httpdocs should be removed and WP files can be placed just as you described in this post.

If it doesn’t work, details can be found in /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/statistics/logs/error_log file.

Did you upload all files to the subdomain folder? Did you build the database after you selected blog.domain.com so as to create the database for the proper subdomain?
