I am wanting to install WordPress onto a hosted server through GoDaddy.

I have purchased a deluxe hosting plan through GoDaddy and set up my CPanel where I have received an IP address for my server.

I have seen a friend of mine run WordPress on hosted server IP’s such as 123.456.01.02/~webbuild

How can I do this with my GoDaddy hosted account? If I try the one click install and navigate to my GoDaddy server, nothing appears. I do not currently own a domain and do not intend on purchasing one until my website is ready to go live.

GoDaddy during the CPanel set up says:

If you don’t have a domain yet, use a temporary domain and change it later.

And when I do the WordPress one click install, it installs WordPress on the https://www.temporarydomain.co.nz instead of my intended server IP.

  • You can do it by installing your WordPress manually.

To install it manually you will need FTP access which should be provided to you by your web hosting provider. You will also need an FTP program to access your hosting account, I recommend using WINSCP.

    1. Download the WordPress, unzip it and upload the files to your “Public Html”

    2. Log into cPanel account and create a Database Name and Username, make sure to associate “Add” the username to the database and assign all privileges.

    3. Go to https://ip/~username and follow the installation steps.

It only works if you have purchased a dedicated IP for yourself along with your hosting. Normally deluxe hosting plan means, its just a shared hosting, so you won’t get a dedicated IP address.

If you want to test yourself before you go live, i suggest you to try at your localhost which can be done by using WAMP server.

    Good luck ??
