• Hello WP Community,

I have been appointed by my CEO to re-design our Intranet, which is abysmal, really bad, and none of the employees actually use it. I’ve created many WordPress sites in my day and showed my CEO that WordPress would be a great way to go and it will make it easier for the people who have to manage it. She really liked the fact that she could have a blog and people could comment on articles that would be posted daily.

The problem lies in the fact we don’t have a linux server and we only have a Windows 2000 server. So my question to you are these:

    1. What do I need to install on the windows 2000 server to make it work? Is it just PHP and MySQL?

    2. If anyone has done it what problems have you faced?

    3. Is there a Installing WP on Windows tutorial somewhere? All the ones I’ve seen are very old.

    Thanks.

I really hope we can do this because like I said, our Intranet site stinks.

  • You will require one web server (I believe you are already running IIS) and then you will need to configure your PHP with IIS. If everything go right then you should not face any problem. Also note that if you are using IIS then you will not be able to use permalink. It requires mod_rewrite (Apache module).

If you do not want to use IIS then you can install XAMPP. It will install and configure Apache, PHP and MySQL for you.
