installing wordpress on 1and1

  • I need help trying to install wordpress on 1and1 as I want my emails hosted with 1and1 and the domain to match (a .co.uk domain)
    I am struggling so much, despite following instructions everywhere I can find them.

    Does anyone have a definitive answer for how to do this??

    unfortunately it’s still not there. I am happy to start again building it in wordpress but still when i go to gd-designerstyle.co.uk it still goes to this default site????

    Firefox can’t find the server at gd-designstyleshire.co.uk.

    Have you installed the Suburia Theme under Appearance => Themes?
    If yes then Activated it and the theme will change to that one.

    @esmi yes, it designer not design (but still not showing!)

    @cjc1867 when i search for suburbia it says no themes match. I have tried setting a new theme (as I don’t mind starting again if i can just sort this) but even when that is installed the default site still keeps coming up…

    Do you have any messages at the bottom of Appearance-> Themes? Have you tried installing a theme via Appearance-> Themes->Install Themes?

    yes tried that…

    now I am even more confused as when I log into https://www.gd-designerstylehire.co.uk on my phone it IS going to a wordpress template, not the default site. Which is a triumph as it means I just start building again in wordpress (won’t take long it is only two pages) BUT when I log in on my computer it still goes to the default site….

    Does this mean that it IS all set up ok and just takes time and it is something to do with the cache on the computer??

    Remember to press CTRL and F5 simultaneously when viewing an updated page/site. Or try emptying your browser cache. This should ensure that your web browser fetches a fresh copy of the page rather than serving up an out-dated copy from your own cache.

    Download Suburia to your computer then go to Themes => Install Themes then click on upload, find your zipped file of Suburia and WordPress will do the rest. When it has installed you will to activate it.

    yes yes yes!!!! I have cleared the cache and now it goes to a wordpress site AND my emails are working!!! I am so pleased ??

    right, now i will get on with building the site again and will try and install suburbia.

    I can’t thank you both enough for your help, i could never have done this without you and I have learnt so much!
