• Hi, I’m developing a tutorial site and i would like to be able to use wordpress on the “Guides” page and “articles” page. Guides is the parent of Articles.

The issue is, the rest of the sites pages have been developed and do not require wordpress so my question is will i be able to install wordpress uniquely for the 2 pages within the site’s directory or does the whole site need to be a wordpress theme?. I’m really worried that the URL will show the whole directory for the posts in “guide”.

How should i structure the site to allow wordpress to function with these 2 pages? :s

  • WordPress works with themes and to use wordpress for just two pages a question arise that what about the layout how would you match other pages with wordpress theme pages.

You can set WordPress up to accomplish this. Of course the WordPress pages will look different from your main site. Unless you code the theme to look like your old site.

I would install WordPress in a folder inside the root directory. You could name that directory “Guides” The “homepage” of your WordPress part of your site could be the Guides page. Then create your articles page. Then link back to the rest of your site using the custom menu feature. Your WordPress theme will need to support custom menus, but any newer theme should do this out of the box.
