• I’ m tring to install Multisite in my wordpress 3.0 but i stopped the installing process at following point (*) cause i don’ tknow what will happen to my blog structure and permalinks.

I enalble multisite adding row of code suggested in wp-config.php and
this is the displayed page after clikking Tools>>Network in Admin Panel:
( *)Create a Network of WordPress Sites

As you can see i have only the sub-domain option ’cause mine is not a new installing one.
So what will happen to my customized permalink and categories base of my main blog if i choose install button?

    Thanks

Nothing. That’s why it’s not letting you pick subfolders, which MIGHT break things ??

    Ok thanks Ipstenu
    BUT
main blog i.e. the blog already installed
will change URL for example in:
    firstblog.mydomain.it or what?

    Thanks

I don’t think so, but I haven’t used subdomains in a while and I forget what happens when you switch to them.

    For subdomains, nothing.

The only reason why subfolder installs stuff the /blog/ in there is to prevent permalink collisions, like if you have a page called /magazines/ and made a site called /magazines/. How do you tell the difference?

    Hi andrea,
in my opinion the wordpress advice mentioned in opening post of this discussion isn’ t clear.
It could be that english/ american isn’t my mother tongue, but this advice before says that multisite allowed are only sub-domains,
but going on with installing process as i done yesterday, you discover that sub directoris installing of other sites are available.
It’ s my first time using this kind of features…

It depends on your setup. ??

If you have an older install, it disallows subdirectories.
On new installs, it allows both.
