installing word press – web platform installer – enter application information

  • Hi I have got wordpress installed on my domain and also have a My SQL database there. This was done by my host company so I think it is done right. I have downloaded word press onto my pc, unzipped the files but when I try to run the programme I get as far as the web platform installer. When it goes to “enter application information” and wants me to choose (via drop down box) between creating a new database or use an existing one. I chose new database.

    2) Next is database administrator, and there is already the name “root” in the box (which I believe is correct).

    3) Then it asks for database administrator password which I am not sure the answer to.

    4) Then Database user name, which I know

    …and then enter password and confirm password box.

    5) Database server- which says “localhost” and I believe is correct and finally Database Name which I know

    I am struck at here.

    When all this information is filled out and then clicked next to move further,

    it says “The source is invalid. Cannot connect to the database. Unable to connect to any specified My SQL hosts.

    I have checked the wp-config.php file and apart from the database administrator password I think the rest of the information is correct. For the database administrator password I have tried the plesk control panel password but this does not seem to work.

    My host is eukhost and they don’t seem able to help me.

    You have to have this. If your host set up the db contact theme for the password.

    I have contacted my host and they tell me the database administrator password is the same as the database password.

    I have checked the wp-config.php file and apart from the database administrator password I think the rest of the information is correct.

    The question is do you know it? Are you able to log in to the database?

    What it actually asks is
    /** MySQL database username */define(‘DB_USER’, ‘The User name goes here’);

    /** MySQL database password */
    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘The Password goes here’);

    Yes I still get this message.
