• Ok, I am using Hostgator and from cpanel, Fantastico to install wP. I go through the steps all the way to step three. When I click the link to go to my blog I get; Page cannot be found. I back button to step two and it says (in red) “The installation cannot be completed”. And it goes on to say “You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain”. I don’t quite know what that means, or how to fix it. Any ideas??

  • I suggest contacting Hostgator tech support as it is their script that’s failing, not WordPress. It may be they made changes in their servers and that’s messing up your installation script or another matter entirely.

On another note, why not install WordPress yourself? Here’s how to do it

It seems that you already have another program installed in your main (root folder), perhaps a forum, shopping cart, or something else? If you want to keep the program running in the root folder, I suggest you create a sub folder, such as “wordpress,” and install it there via Fantastico. If that doesn’t work, yeah, contact your host and tell them the issue.

    Good luck.

Log into your CP panel and click on the live help they will walk you through it. i just did it with them. It is very easy with their help.
