• Modified the default theme. Renamed it and copied to wp-content directory. Published it. But it doesn’t show up on the admin themes page, so I can’t just “select”. What to do?
    Thanks — a terrific forum!

  • Q1. When you say you renamed it, does this mean you changed the ‘Theme Name:’ line in its style.css?

Q2. Does “copied to wp-content directory” mean you placed it in its own subdirectory there?

Q1: No. Did not change that line. Just the name of the folder containing the theme.
Q2: The new folder “mytheme” (creative, huh?) now resides in wp-content along with the default folder.
    Thanks!

the “name” of the them that’s listed in the CSS is supposed to also be the name of the folder, which should be the name of the theme. If that made sense.

It does, and changing the line fixed the problem. Thanks to both of you!

Actually, I’ve found that the folder can be most anything – BUT you HAVE to change the theme name in the style.css header comments. It just makes sense to change the folder name to match….
