Installing the second website

  • I have an existing site and want to create a second site with its own URL. My WordPress theme for the original site is installed in public_html. My plan is to install the theme a second time into a subfolder and customize the look of the second site a bit differently for the second site. I would prefer a short URL for the second site, such as example.com, rather than example.com/subfolder. Do I make a redirect for the second site?

    This is very basic stuff. I’m not trying to share data on the two sites or anything. Just want to make sure I’m not doing it wrong.

    Would this new site be completely separate from your existing WordPress installation?

    Depending on what control panel you have with your hosting package you should be able to add your new domain name then upload a new instance of WordPress.

    You would then access this site from its own URL.
