Installing Sitemeter Code Into WordPress

Copy and paste it into the footer template (usually footer.php).

Thanks for your quick reply. I’ve tried doing that but nothing happens, and the code just dissapears from the page.

If you have some words in the footer wrapped by a <p> tag, put it before the </p> tag closes. If not, put the code before the </body> tag.

Thanks for the quick reply. However, when I go to my wp-admin menu, and go to “edit themes” and then go to “Footer Template” it simply does not allow me to add any code. And I’ve tried adding the code to the Page Template and to the Post Template. It just doesn’t let me add the code anywhere whatsoever.

One more thing I should add. When I’m in the theme editor in my wp-admin menu, and when I click on “Footer Template” it says on the bottom of the page, “if this file was writable, you could edit it.” That message is also located on the “Page Template” and the “Post Template.” So do you know if there’s any way to set it up so that a person *can* edit those template pages?

Yes, there is. With your FTP client you can change the CHMOD of those files to make them “writable’, e.g. 666.

I’m sorry to be such a pain, but here’s what I did, using Cute FTP home edition. I went to the Tamba web site, changed the CHMOD settings to 766 by checking read, write execute under “owner.”

Then in the next step of the tutorial, there was something about “Hidden Files” which I don’t understand. When I clicked Edit from the top left tool bar there was no option Hidden Files for “Filter.” But there was an option under “View” so I clicked on that. I got the following screen:

Filter Properties
Enable Filtering was checked.

Then, under “Server Side Filtering, I check off the box for “Enable Server Side Filtering.” And in the box next to “Remote Filter” I typed in -a.

But it’s still not letting me copy and paste the Sitemeter code into the footer php screen in my Themes section under wp-admin.

Any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated.

You do not need to view hidden files.

All you need to do is put the code into footer.php, or at the bottom of sidebar.php, just above </div>

For your chmod, you are going to
wp-content/themes/name-of-theme/footer.php ?
