  • You need to log into the control panel provided by your host (this will be a different url, username and password to your WordPress console). Open the file manager and navigate to:

    /your site/
              /wp-content/
                         /plugins/

When you get there, rename the /google-site-kit/ directory to /google-site-kit-old/. This should gve you access back into your WordPress console.

You are a life saver!! Thank you so much.
Does this sort of think happen a lot?
Does this mean I cannot use Site Kit?
I’m scared to do anything with the site now for fear of breaking it!!

    Hey @cliffyb!

This isn’t common. We use Site Kit quite extensively on our sites without issue. It might be a theme or plugin conflict – I suggest opening this issue directly on the plugin support page.

    Warm regards

Happy to hear you have regained access! This can happen when installing different plugins/themes, but as M Media points out, it’s not that common. Provided you have access through the host’s control panel or FTP you can always fix it. Another good idea is to take backups (database and files) either manually in the control panel or with a plugin, just in case. Cheers ??

    Thanks again.
Yes a backup is next on the list…

@mmediagroup, yes I will see if I can follow this up online and see what’s going on.
