Installing on Mac OSX 10.4.10

  • Hello, I’m an old mac user but a fresh WP downloader. I’ve been reading around about installation and I’m getting confused on what I do really need to make the trick.
    My main concern is: PHP and how I install on my machine to make it work; MySQL, and how… etc, etc.

    Is there anybody out there willing to shortly explain the whole to me? Talk as to a child, this way I’m sure I’ll understand everything ??

  • Maybe you could clarify something: Do you intend to use your own machine as the web server?

    No, HandySolo, I only need to author projects with WP. I will upload on my provider’s machines.

    Then your provider will take care of PHP and MySQL on the server. You don’t need them on your Mac.

    All you need on your Mac is a web browser and, most likely, a FTP client if you’re doing the WP install on to their server.

    Maybe have a poke through Getting_Started_with_WordPress?
