Installing new themes on localhost

Hi guys, I? using Ubuntu latest version and have installed wordpress locally so that I could change and develop my website locally before releasing it. But thing is I can’t install a new theme by uploading, nor by copying theme folder to wp-content/themes/. I can’t either unzip theme files to wordpress folder, nor access it via terminal even though I’m the administrator.
