installing new themes

  • i am trying to install the themes i bought, and it won’t let me, keeps saying it failed and that the stylesheets are missing??? i installed one free theme and it worked, however the one i bought and another one i really like won’t install. I am so new to this, its my first website. can anyone help? and when I try to re-download and re-install it says file already exists and failed, but I can’t figure out how to delete it from wordpress. sigh. frustrated already and I haven’t started yet. thanks!

  • Not a lot we can do to help here. If a theme is missing its stylesheet (style.css), then it’s flat out broke and can’t be fixed.

    however the one i bought and another one i really like won’t install.

    Contact the vendors about the theme that you bought.

    I can’t figure out how to delete it from wordpress

    FTP into your site (or use whatever file management application your host provides) and delete the folders for the broken themes in wp-content/themes.

    jennalogy, did you look inside the zip file to see if there are other folders inside? Usually, a premium theme that is paid for will contain other directories (help files, psd’s, etc). You should upload ONLY the theme folder (and children of that folder) into wordpress. The themefolder will be the one that contains a file named style.css
