I’m sure this topic is covered either in the install manual or in one of these forums, but i’m a pretty impatient person so i apologize if either of these scenarios is the case. here is my question:

i’ve been having problems getting WP running, having placed it in a sub-directory on my site. the pages exist and it is possible to post, however clicking on the nav to go back/forth results in being sent to an error page (page does not exist), i’m jsut curious if this is because it is not on the root level of the site, any ideas?

  • Defintely no.
All my WP installs are in subdirs and they all work fine.
You will have to give us more details in order to be able to help. The best thing is to give us a link.

    no problem,

    it’s here:

notice if you remove “index.php” you are told the directory listing is denied,

    thanks for the help!

Contact your host and ask them to make index.php a “valid index file”.
After that everything should work – I hope ??

You were 100% right. it was as simple as adding “index.php” as a valid index page in my site admin. Lesson learned! thanks again!
