• I have spent DAYS trying to figure out how to replace the default header image text with a custom designed graphic. When I finally discovered how to add it, (with the help of a Youtube video) I find it’s only half the width of the page.

Is it not possible for someone to make this programme much more user friendly? Whatever happened to drag and drop?!! I am very frustrated that all the adverts for WordPress talk about how easy and much quicker it is to create a website with wordpress and now after spending money on the themes I find it’s nothing like as easy. I know nothing about coding, don’t really have the time or the inclination to start messing around with coding languages.
Sorry, I’m just very disappointed that I’m now faced with this enormous php, css, off-putting gobbledygook coding learning curve where you’ve no idea where to start and scared stiff that you’re going to mess up the whole website. I’ve already got menu headings repeated all over the place, duplicate pages just because I dared to download and install the demo content. How do I sort that out? There doesn’t seem to be any way of undeleting these actions. No doubt the computer geeks will say you shouldn’t have been so presumptuous. If only there was a step bt step guide to the basic things that one needs to know in building and customising a website from templates.
Sorry to rant. That’s me finished!

That’s the sort of helpsheet I don’t need. It makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach just looking at all that verbiage, code, coding rules and coding regulations which even if I get some of it right I’m sure to fall at the next hurdle – and the next etc. All I want is a SIMPLE, step by step guide if such a thing exists. Too much to hope for I suppose. It all looks so complicated.

I thought it would be a walk in the park. It seems I have to climb Everest instead and I’m just not as fit as I used to be!

Since every theme is different and there are (literally) tens of thousands of themes, you are never going to find a generic guide that explains how to customise your particular theme. If you want to start customising themes then you need to learn about themes in general first – which is what that guide above does.

OK Thanks for replying to my posts so promptly. I guess I’ll need to start at the beginning of what looks like being a very steep learning curve.
Re the duplicating menu items – can I just delete these in the dashboard or should I reinstall wordpress on my webhost and start from scratch?
