• I accidentally deleted a blog the other day but still have the mySQL database. I downloaded the current WordPress and edited the wp-config.php file to point to the location of the database. However, when I tried to do the wp-admin/install.php, it told me WordPress was already installed. When I surf to the blog, itself, it comes up completely blank.

    Any help?

Also, when I try to surf to the wp-admin site, I get a redirect error.

In the address bar, this is happening:

    https://www.scottrouvalis.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=/wordpress/wp-admin/

You’ll need to dump the database to a backup file, then drop all the tables. This leaves the database skeleton intact, so your config file will work, but allows wp to reinstall itself.

I did that, and then I restored the database on top of the new one I created, with the same name, and the same thing happens, it shows me a blank page. ARGH!!!!

Okay. I think I know why it didn’t work in the first place? I think it’s because I had to choose a different template. I did the whole backup/restore thing and then had to change the template. Ah ha! It worked.

Ah, yes. Sorry I forgot to mention the template change! I haven’t done this particular thing in a long time….
