Installing existing wordpress site on MAMP
-
I have an existing WordPress site. It was created by selecting wordpress as an option on the hosting server, and going from there.
As I’m interested in web development, but rather new to it, I wanted to download the site I made to local server using MAMP (on mac) and mess around there.
I’ve previously successfully installed wordpress in my root directory in MAMP to create a new site. That works.
But when I tried the same process with my existing wordpress site, using the exported zip from the website, and creating a database in MyPHP, and load up the https://localhost:8888/%5Bnameofmysite%5D
I get this page showing
Index of /[nameofmysite]
Parent directory
[a couple of zip files]
__MACOSX/
installer-data.sql
installer-log.txt
installer.php
wp-config.php
wp-snapshots/I guess I’m doing something wrong. Any idea what it is? Otherwise, if there’s a walkthrough tutorial for this kind of thing, I can start again from scratch.
Thanks
