• Hi, I built a website and tried to installed a network a few months after I began to build the original site. I got a message saying that because my install was not new I should use sub-domain instead of sub-folder for my network. First of all, I would like to know why that is ?

    Also, I went ahead and tried to install the network with the line :
    define( ‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, false );

    But it did not work. When I tried to go to my network it would ask me for my admin password but would not recognized it so I could see the network was installed but I could not go in and create sites.

    Also, all my menu was not working anymore, it would not find the page and would simply stay on the home page, no matter which menu I clicked. So I decided to remove the network code and it came back to normal, the menu links were working.

    I then tried to re-install the network but it said I already had one and that I should empty or remove the database tables related to the network before trying to install it again. I really don’t know how to do this, so now I am really stuck.

    Anyone can help me ?

    Should I simply try to add the code in the wp-config file using ( ‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, true ); and then add the code in the htaccess file again ? Maybe this would work since the network is already installed and I was prompt to use sub-domain instead of sub-folder.

    It’s just that I don’t understand why I could not use sub-folder I am using the latest version of wordpresss and it was installed only a few weeks ago.
