    Hi,
    I used Duplicator to download a wordpress website to my local server (MAMP) to edit it. Now I am trying to upload it to a new site. I have the package made but the installer won’t run. It keeps asking me where I want to open the file, or what I want to open it with. In my code editor it says Duplicator requires PHP running on the server.

    My MAMP server is running and has PHP v.5.5.3 running. I have placed the installer file in the root folder (MAMP/htdocs) and it won’t work whether I try to launch it from the Duplicator plugin in wordpress or directly from the Finder.

    What can I do to fix this?

    Thanks, Murielle

    Hey Murielleh,

    Checkout this section on the FAQs I believe it may help with this issue:
    -> Browse to: https://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq
    -> Find section: “2. Installer=> Why do I get plain/text or a download prompt when browsing to the installer?”

    Hope that helps!

    I thought I had posted the following already – reposting just in case and my apology if redundant:

    I had meanwhile solved the problem by opening the file from browser with URL:
    localhost:8888/installer.php

    after I had moved the installer to the root folder together with the zipped package, and talked to the host tech support (inmotion) who enabled my IP to go through their sql firewall.

    The test site is up now at

    Thanks so much for your prompt response and your help!
