I just installed wordpress on a network solutions server and checked the box where it says “Check this box to make this WordPress your web site home page”. This is because when someone goes to the client’s root domain name I want the WordPress site to show up. I went through importing the test site content, installed Suffusion and the site looked normal.

Then, I uploaded my child theme and imported my options that I had created. Didn’t get any error messages but now the child theme is not showing, and any changes I make to the site such as changing the main title or selecting a Page to be the home page don’t show up on the site.

Has anyone else had this issue with Network Solutions? I do transfers from test sites to root domains for clients all the time and have never come across this before.

    thanks,
    Jenn

    WordPress is here, https://elizamellensmith.com/wordpress/

Check this box to make this WordPress your web site home page

I have no idea what that button is supposed to do. Maybe ask your host.

The box is there so the root domain will automatically forward to the wordpress site. I checked the site again today and the new header is there now. I was able to change the background from gray to white and that change appeared instantly. Same with a change to the site’s layout in Suffusion. HOWEVER, when I created new widgets and saved them, NO CHANGE to the default widgets.

I had this happen once before with a non-profit site that I was trying to help out with and none of my stylesheet changes would show up until 12 hours later. Do some hosting companies servers’ cache the site for a period and that’s why my changes suddenly stop showing up??
