    Hello,
I got as far as running the scan — at least I think it ran — with the free version and now I can’t get into or view my site.
    Error message reads:

    This webpage is not available
    ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Since I can’t access the site, I am unable to disable the plugin.
    Thx,
    Jose

    Hi Jose,

You can manually disable any plugin on your site by renaming the plugin directory to something else.

e.g. if Wordfence is installed in /wp-content/plugins/wordfence

    Just rename that to

    /wp-content/plugins/wordfence.disabled

and WordPress will instantly disable it.

Let us know if that fixes the issue and if you find out what the cause is or if we can help.

I just accessed your site and it appears to be available.

    Regards,

    Mark.

I tried connecting to my hosts’ “users” area via FileZilla and once again it won’t connect. It just times out.

So your ftp times out? Or access to the site?

    Access to the site.

I’m not sure what to tell you. I can pull up the site and the wp-login page just fine (really fast speed too).

It won’t come up in either Google or IE, though accessing other sites through these search engines works normally. I’m on a non-networked computer running with Norton protection.

I got this figured out and wanted to follow up so you’d know the solution. Apparently, the installation triggered a security alert in my host’s system that made it suspect me of being a bad guy and they froze me out. They cleared it up on their end and everything is fine now. If you hear from others on this you now know that Wordfence can upset a host’s security system. Thanks for taking a look at it.

I am having the exact same issue, please help!

@emiliano87: I answered the other post you wrote too — if you can make a new post with all of the details of your problem, I can help more. Thanks!

@josesegue did you have to contact your host or you can work it out on your host panel? i’m having the same problem and i have no idea how to fix this.

@mxrodrigues: If you don’t hear back soon, I would recommend contacting your host. They may have software that is blocking you before you reach the site by mistake like JoseSegue’s host, or there may be other problems on the server. If you are using a VPN service, you can try disabling it and visiting the site again, as that service may be blocked.

Also, to test access to your site, to rule out most WordPress issues, you can usually try visiting:
    yoursite.com/license.txt

You should see a plain text document, and since it is only text, this will rule out almost all of WordPress and all security plugins, except those that block access via the .htaccess file. If you cannot view the license file, the error message you receive will help your host determine what happened, since it doesn’t run any code like WordPress does.
