• Hello,

I just downloaded the sociable plugin for my website & I think it gave me a virus. My entire website went down immediately after and I got this message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_taxonomies() in /home/planet38/public_html/magazinesbyjoelle/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/sociable/includes/class-Sociable_Globals.php on line 3295

My website is https://www.trashthedressbook.com and it is a redirect from https://www.magazinesbyjoelle.com

I also installed a youtube plug-in, but I believe this is from sociable.

    Thanks for help in advance!

Hi JoelleCaputa, which wp version you have?

My coworker just got a similar message for their client site. What can they do for the fix, they can’t even log in through wp-admin, they get the same error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_taxonomies() in /hermes/bosweb/web183/b1831/ipw.michiganfuture/public_html/new/wp-content/plugins/sociable/includes/class-Sociable_Globals.php on line 3295

    Hi Andrea,
It sounds like the plugin is conflicting with something in your site (another plugin, your theme, a script, etc) or similar problem (and not a virus – just in case you or others read the first comment and were getting worried….). It can probably be fixed very easily too, so don’t give up on the plugin just yet (as it’s very good).

You’ll need to disable it in the meantime to be able to access your site, so – go to your web server, and then either:

A: (easy method) – go to your website’s root folder (where all your website file stored), then go to the folder inside it called WP-Content. Inside that folder is a folder called “Plugins”, and inside it you will find the “Sociable” plugin’s folder – simply delete the entire “sociable” folder. You should now be able to log into your site.

B: (advanced) Go to phpMyAdmin, and go into your website’s database. De-activate the plugin from there (I think by memory it can be activated/de-activated from within the “Options” tables – there will be a table that lists all the plugins that are active – just remove the sociable plugin from the active list, press save & you should now be able to access your site…).

Incidentally, after you have deleted or deactivated it you might want to write down all the other plugins that you have active on your site, plus which version of WP you are using & post it here – maybe the developer will recognize one which might be causing the issue. I’m using this plugin on maybe 15 sites without any problem so far.

    Kind regards, & good luck!
    Karen
