• After a) trying to upgrade from 2.6 unsuccessfully, I cleared out the wordpress directory, installed a clean edition of wp 3.3.1, created a new mysql database, edited the wp-config.php and uploaded, established a database connection and logged in ok. Only – once logged in there is nothing there, just a blank browser screen. No dashboard. Using FF 9.0.1. Any help welcome. It seems this is a bit of a common problem as I noticed a previous poster had the same issue although he arrived at it via a different route from me.

  • I’m having the same trouble and I want to scream, but I may have found out why. If you’re using cPanel for your site admin and back-end, try using Postgre SQL and PHP rather than MySQL. For some reason, My SQL is only running PHP version 2.something. Could be a possible fix, but unfortunately the Postgre servers are down at the moment so I have no way of confirming whether or not this will resolve the issue!

    Please post your own topics.

I can’t access the admin login page. Brings out error message when I type https://www.mysite.com/blog/wp-amin. Please help.

I just now updated to 3.3.1 and now have a screen saying I’m in Scheduled Maintenance. This is a self-hosted blog.

Worse, I cannot login at all.

If I have to reinstall, will I lose my data?

Ok, downloaded a fresh zip file. Cleaned out the server and did a fresh install from scratch. Still the same effect.

It seems to me that v3.3.1 is not ready for prime time yet. Is there an archive of backward versions? I can try with 3.3.0 and if that doesn’t work go back to the release before that and so on until I find a stable one.

Re the MySql php thing. Why on earth would anyone develop and application that relies on a databse but which isn’t built with the components the databse actually has?

It’s running successfully on thousands (millions?) of web site. So whatever this is, it’s specific to your site.

    Pardon?

I reinstall 3.1.4 from fresh too, and nothing… tried with 3.1.3 and had problems too. Today i wiil try installing the IIS version but im not sure if that’s it. Is it a requirement to have debug build? could be some problem with apache?

Anyway franko, you can download older versions from here:

@runathil & others: It is considered impolite to interrupt another poster’s thread. Please post your own topics.

But what if I solved it and publish the solution? i would be consider impolite too?

If you have a solution, please post it by all means. But 5 additional people all saying the equivalent of “Me too!” not only doesn’t contribute anything but it makes trying to help anyone 10x harder.

We WANT people to post their own topics. Please do try to help us help you.

OK, i really do not understand the spirit of spread the potencial same problem in six different topics, forcing us to check not one, but six different posts searching for an answer (wich by the way is already difficult to find) but i dont mean to drive this toppic on a different direction…so i will open my own’s. Good Luck Franko!

PS: you can also try to install WP in a FreeHot like 000webhost and see if it runs there, perhaps is a server requirements problem.

To be honest, I can’t be bothered. The site I’ve taken over will just have to be maintained through the dashboard which means I can’t really do anything to make the site better from a design perspective.

Pity, there’s so much I don’t like about the design but if all I can do is what the dashboard lets me do, it’ll just have to stay the way it is.

    Franko1497,

You have the ability to edit the pages and aesthetics from the editor within the dashboard. There’s little I’ve found I can’t do from the dashboard. What are you trying to change?

    (@franko1497)

Tim, please read the thread. I cannot access the dashboard – IT DOESN’T APPEAR!

Well, I′ve resolved my problem: My hosting′s server was windows. So i changed to another provider with a linux server and everything runs ok. Franko, make sure that this is not your problem too. Good Luck!
