• After much gnashing of teeth with the host provider, WP is up and running on a subdomain directory for development purposes. When I log in as admin, and go to post, the screen comes up but no user interface (none of the windows and fields that I’m used to). The right hand menu comes up, as it should (to submit the post or schedule) but no window for entering a post.

Ideas? The database seems properly connected, or I wouldn’t be this far along…

I should also have mentioned that the “Hello World” post comes up, and I can edit it. But no similar interface for a new post.

Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

I just did the download of wp yesterday. Can’t get much fresher than that. ??

You may still have some corrupt files. Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

Ok, did a fresh download, re-uploaded everything except the wp-content folder. Same thing. ??

Ok, here’s what’s really weird. If I open up the new post interface, and even though there is nothing there, if I “save draft” from the publish menu in the right column, it saves as a new draft post, and then I can go in and edit it. Ideas?

Do you have any plugins installed? What theme are you using?

Standard wp twenty ten 1.2 theme right out of the box, no plugins yet. This is an “out of the box” install. I want to make sure functionality is ok before I started customizing. (I’ve been working with wp since ver 1.5 or thereabouts…) – again, this is a *fresh* install for a new client, not an upgrade.

Try adding define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false ); to the bottom of your wp-config.php file (just before the require_once line).

Thanks again – I added the line you suggested to the wp-config.php file, and that didn’t make any difference. Still no posting interface. I’m going to clear the db tables and do a reinstall. Any other ideas?

You mention initial server problems, so the server has to be a possible culprit. I think pretty much everything else has been ruled out other that your own computer.
