Installed New WordPress….ERROR

  • Fatal error: Call to undefined method WordPress_Module::_weak_escape() in /home/eliocama/public_html/blog/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 487

    I did an auto-upgrade and I am receiving the following error.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Tried that and now I just get a BLANK white screen.

    Any ideas?

    OK so I re-installed ALL the new files and now I have the same error I started with.

    Is that from a fresh copy of WP 2.8 install files?

    yes, sometimes a fresh copy can also have a bug. check this:

    I am not sure about this error, but this is the code:

    $data = $this->_weak_escape( $data );

    so try removing space between ( and $

    This should solve the issue

    OK…So I installed an old version of wordpress in another area.

    I NEED to get this working.

    When I enter my database info from the OLD config file I get…

    Error establishing a database connection

    Can someone help me get this going?

    Looks like you mis-typed something into your wp-config.php file. There’s also no guarantee that a WP 2.8 database will work effectively with an older version of WP.

    I reinstalled everything and got wordpress to work.

    Then when I enter the old database info I get nothing but a white screen.

    I searched and can’t seent to find a correction for this.

    Can anyone help please?

    I would bet your old database (old install) was using a custom theme that is not in your new source code? Or, you didn’t disable all the plugins before you upgraded? Try disabling all plugins in your old database via phpMyAdmin…see the following video…

    BTW…I can now LOGIN to my admin and everything is there.

    When viewing my site it is still white.

    That solved it!

    I really wish wordpress would install a small warning on the auto-upgrade that said “besure to turn off all plug-ins before auto-upgrading”
