Installed Facebook Like" button plug-in

Hi, I am the editor of the global internal newsletter. the articles reside on a WordPress blog. I would like to be able give the reader the ability to click on like (if they want) for each article they read. Then, I want to be able to grab the metrics that show me out of the total readers for this particular article, how many actually liked it.

I have installed the Facebook “Like” button in WordPress, created my own little “thumbs up” image. However, every time I go to an article and click on my Like button, I am immediately taken to my Facebook page (even though I have included any of my Facebook information in the plug-in settings.

How can put a Like button on each article, not go to Facebook, but keep track of the likes per article somewhere in my WordPress block.
