I just installed WP on my server and it said it was successful. However, when I click on the login at the bottom of the installed page it takes me back to “blog” username and “email”. There is no where a place to “login” using admin and the generated p/w. Consequently, it appears I have installed it about three times! all successful! HELP!

  • 1. Where did you install your WordPress? localhost or webhosting service?
    2. Linux or Windows hosting?
    3. Installed in root or subdirectory? If in subdirectory, what application is installed at root which might interfere with your login?
    4. when I click on the login at the bottom of the installed page
Do you mean a login link at the frontend of your install e.g. https://yoursite.com/ ?
Have you tried logging in via https://yoursite.com/wp-admin/ or https://yoursite.com/wp-login.php ?

I installed in on my server localhost on the root directory. Once clicked on install through the myadmin.php it took me to the WordPress WordPress site and requested that I type in the Blog, which I did, then it asked for my email address. then I clicked on INSTALL. when I did, it said it was successful, and asked me to login. when I clicked on the login button it took me back to Blog: Myblog and email: [email protected] then installed it again. the other thing is that though it said it was a successful install, it had pages and pages of scrolling errors. so I am thinking it isn’t really installed. I was pretty sure it installed on my db on my server. I changed all the info in the wp.config.php and the authentication strings….I am now on hour 9 of the 5 minute install….somebody somewhere can’t tell the difference between hours and minutes, methinks….this is really frustrating.
    thanks for any help

I am not going to install this on my website. I want to have it so that I can teach myself how to “design” for a client who is under the impression they can use WordPress as a CMS and not a blog. I am trying to find out if that is even possible and if so, how I can do it for them and teach them how…..I need to figure it out so that I can either advise using it or not. but I sill would like to know how to use it and install, but…well….its not going to so well for me…thanks for anything you can help me with.

    Re: 5 minute install
Yes, I and many others have installed it in less than 5 minutes. All you need is the correct environment for it. WordPress Codex is your friend

Your client is right, WordPress is a CMS and the best blogging application in my humble opinion. For your information

Awesome, thanks. It looks like WordPress didn’t like the dash utf-8. We switched it to utf8 and all is right with the world again. Thanks for the feedback on the CMS stuff….now all I need to do is learn how to use it.

    Thank you!
