Installed but can’t get it to work

    Hi Frank,
    I have installed the plugin and activated it and when I enable any option Javascript or CSS it breaks the website. I went through the FAQ but it does not clear up my questions…
    Is there something I can do to make the plugin work?
    The website is built on Salient theme.

    what does “it breaks the website” mean? is it broken the same way when doing only CSS or only JS optimization? did you (as per the FAQ) look at your browser console for JS errors and if so, what were they?

    when I activate the plugin and switch on Optimize HTML option the site speed drops from 64 to 60 on mobile and from 83 to 80 on desktop. When I switch on optimize JS the page tries to load for a minute and sometimes its white screen and sometimes gives Internal Server Error.
    I also noticed in console ”
    Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input autoptimize_40cdca4….js:1444

    I also see some mixed content errors in the console but not sure if this affects Autoptimize plugin’s functions?

    ok, can you as per the FAQ switch to the legacy minifiers?

    Ok I added define(“AUTOPTIMIZE_LEGACY_MINIFIERS”,”true”); to wp-config file
    and it happens the same. White screen.
    Only one thing is left to do by FAQ to contact my host to see if – AllowOverride All – is On…

    The error in cosole changed to
    Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input autoptimize_dc981387e72d1ef59b9663ec20e1e074.php:1375

    can I somehow send you the link and you have a quick look?

    I’m using AO and it’s better but there’s still:

    Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
    Your page has 1 blocking script resources and 10 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.

    I had a lot more scripts and css and a lower score before the installation. Anyway I can get rid of the rest? should I still have W3 Total Cache activated?

    Not sure how this works, am I suppose to start my own thread? Website is https://mach8.com
