Installed and 100’s of spam posts with no author are being created and scheduled

  • Hello, I am experiencing problem with the latest version of the plugin 4.46 and not sure how it is being caused, since I have Customers set to ONLY READ Posts. And my customers are set as the default user upon registration. Unfortunately, since installing this plugin, somehow 100’s of Posts are being generated and set to scheduled everyday in my posts section. None of the Admins are creating these posts, and they seem to be popping up with absolutely NO AUTHOR attached to them either.

    What is causing this exactly? The only permission for customers is “Read Posts” all others are unchecked.

    There is no user attached to these posts, but random posts are being generated with all kinds of crazy content in them. How to fix this?

    Why do you think User Role Editor may be a reason of a problem?
    URE code is clear, if you downloaded it from www.remarpro.com or not from other source of course. SPAM posts were created automatically as they does not have legitimate user record linked to them as an author.

    The most probable reason is a some extra code installed on your site by someone without your permission. It could take place due to plenty of reasons: shared hosting, weak user passwords, vulnerabilities in the installed code, etc.
    You need to compare your site files with older copies or with fresh downloaded WordPress, theme, plugins in order to exclude code installed by a bad guy.

    There are also a WordPress feature for the remote post creation. Look for the WordPress settings and switch it off or at least change password.
