• Hi,

    Long story…!

I have a domain and hosting. Before setting up the main site I set up a subdomain in cpanel and then loaded it with wordpress through the Installatron application. Then loaded my development site that I had locally on serverpress desktop server.

After some time I then did the same on the main site. But this has ended in the situation where I have two Installatron applications of wordpress. “my blog” and “my blog (2)” I’m wondering if there should be just one for the main site and subdomain?

Secondly, my main site randomly goes unresponsive and times out. When I log into cpanel nothing appears wrong. However if I go into the installatron applications and click to expand the application for my main site “my blog(2)” it is also unresponsive and won’t expand to give any detail. It also doesn’t show the correct file or database size. It only shows 25.9mb files and 0.1mb database when there is actually something like 400mb files and 60mb database. While the application for my subdomain remains completely normal and also displays the correct info for file and database size.

Do I have an issue with the two wordpress install applications? And if so, should I delete the lot and start again?

*If I do need to start again …
I have backed up all files under the public_html file and also backed up the database. Is it just a matter of a new clean install and then replace both those files and database from the back up copies?

As you can understand a website that keeps going randomly unresponsive for seemingly no reason is very annoying and frustrating.

I welcome any helpful advice or guidance…!!

    Thank you!

  • I think you should delete them both and start over. Installatron is the best way to install it. If it’s your main site don’t put it in a sub directory. Sounds like you may have an issue with the .htaccess file or something. One thing about installatron, if you use it you want to manage the install with it.

Hi wiredcom, thanks for your reply.
The main site is in the main directory and the testing subdomain is in a sub directory under the public_html folder. However both have their own installatron wordpress applications which I think may be the issue?
I’m guessing there should only be one installatron application for the main site with the testing subdomain in a sub directory.
